Our Story
We are a private independent nursery school in the heart of Chichester city centre, founded in 1991 by Kathryn in her family home at the time in Westgate, Chichester.
In 1991, Kathryn, a mother of three and a supply teacher, was looking for a nursery for her youngest, Felicity. After not finding a nursery that provided a home from home feel in a thriving learning environment Kathryn decided to start her own nursery, converting the downstairs of her family home accommodating up to 20 children a day. In 1994 the nursery moved to new premises which were converted to accommodate for the increasing numbers, allowing for up to 40 children.
In 2007, we moved to our current premises. Today Kathryn and her experienced, friendly and knowledgeable team accommodate for up to 60 children a day. We are fortunate to have a prime location with great sized classrooms and a wonderful outdoor space, including an outdoor classroom. We have ample parking, making drop off and pick up convenient and easy for parents who drive to nursery, and we are conveniently located for transport links.
Kathryn’s passion has always been childcare whilst starting and running Chantry House. Over the years she has been an active member of the education committee and social services committee for West Sussex County Council, alongside serving on the adoption committee. As the principal of Chantry House Nursery Kathryn continues to share her passion, knowledge and experience to enable us to remain a home from home thriving learning environment for all children.
